Rafael Lamata (born in 1959, Valencia, Spain) & Jaime Vallaure (born in 1965, Asturias, Spain).
The duo of performers, so called “Los Torreznos”, act as a communicative weapon by targeting the social and political manners on a dimension such as the everyday basis. The aim of their work is oriented to seek and experiment expressively in themes of the ordinary and common world through simple formes such as the gesture, the language and the presence. This makes it possible for them to be understood and to access a wider public rather than only art intellectuals. Their sense of humor, constantly present throughout all their work, tries to explain the daily and ordinary culture, which anyone can experiment by just living. The duo mainly acts as performers but also expresses through several media, like video and sound art.
They have both been working together before becoming Los Torrezonos. They were part of an experimental group called Circo Interior Bruto (Interiour Brute Circus. Furthermore they have been part of Zona de Accion Temporal (ZAT) (Temporary Action Zone) 1997/98.
They have shown their works in different places and festivals such as Hausemechine, Essen, Alemania, Rencontre internationale d’arte de la performance, Quebeq, Canada Festival In-presentables, La Casa Encendida, Madrid.
