Artemio made, in 2014, his first feature film -Me quedo contigo -. It is a commitment to vindicate women from a patrialchal condescending visions, stereotyped and victimization of women as weak sex. On September 25 there will be a screening the film and we going to have a colloquium about the movie.
As every risky artistic project Me quedo contigo left him a lot of joys, but also disappointments in his attempt to get greater impact and visibility for his “opera prima”.
The film had its premiere during the Rotterdam Film Festival. The movie participated in the Edinburgh Film Festival, and received the ‘New Talent’ award, at the Taipei Film Festival.
The Kintsugi exhibition by Artemio is composed of three pieces:
– Stolen self-portrait, it is a novel that Artemio appropriates, crossing out the name of the author and certain texts, to turn it into a self-portrait.
– The present perfect, is an unlimited compendium of frames of the end of the movies, where the term The End is the protagonist. In the exhibition we present four light boxes of these frames.
– A year of failures, is a group of e-mails received throughout 2014 from different film festivals rejecting the participation of his film in them.
The exhibition proposal for LZ46 by Artemio, with the title Kintsugi, gravitates on elusive happiness, the recovery of wounds from not hiding them, exhibiting them to transform them into a lucid acceptance. A desperation of vertigo turned into virtue, a fragility repaired with a vital and curious attitude, which follows the natural rhythms of the phenomena of reality with which he interacts.
