Concha Jerez 1st Acquisition Prize ENATE - ARCO 2024

In 1992, ENATE started a contemporary art collection with works by national and international artists. Since then, each of the brand's wines has been associated with a renowned artist, with a work of his or her authorship created for the winery appearing on the label. For this reason, its commitment to contemporary art has led this renowned Somontano winery to join ARCOmadrid 2024.

Thus, ENATE will award, through a purchase valued at €5,000, an original work at ARCOmadrid 2024, which will become part of the ENATE collection, in recognition of its artistic work. The work will be presented in the ENATE space in the GUEST Lounge at ARCOmadrid along with other pieces from the collection. This work will also become, in dialogue with the artist, the label of the special edition bottle in homage to the fair.

The jury, formed by Luis Nozaleda (general director of ENATE), Carlos Urroz Arancibia (cultural manager) and Frances Reynolds (founder of Instituto Inclusatriz), has agreed to award the 1st ENATE-ARCOmadrid 2024 Prize to the work AMONG Self-censored writings, 2020, by the artist Concha Jerez (Galería Freijo). The jury valued both the artist's career, who since the 1970s has questioned the way in which we communicate and relate to each other in a world mediated by technology, and the special focus of this work on our ability to communicate or decide to stop doing so.
