Review of Marcelo Brodsky's exhibition "1968: The Fire of Ideas" by theorist Luis Francisco Pérez
November 30, 2021
Theorist Luis Francisco Perez posted on November 27th, 2021 on Facebook a review of Marcelo Brodsky's exhibition 1968: The Fire of Ideas at Freijo Gallery.
"In the current exhibition, titled "1968: The Fire of Ideas", private memory has disappeared in favor of shared plural memory, although personal memory (lowercase "history") is also manifested, but incorporated into the very flow of History (capitalized). The only and main discursive argument of the exhibition is the "recovery" of (that is: to bring to the present or "update") what the spring in Paris in 1968 meant worldwide, including other historical events or processes that served as prologue, a few years before, to that famous Parisian May. At this point, it is very interesting to recall the famous "dictum" of the philosopher Benedetto Croce when he affirmed that History is always "Contemporary History"."
