Lauren Moffat participates in the exhibition Surrealism - Collective Dream at the Tempere Art Museum

February 5, 2025

Surrealism – Collective Dream celebrates the one-hundred-year history of international surrealist art. This full-house exhibition explores surrealist art’s vision of reality, highlighting encounters between the movement’s pioneers and notable contemporary artists.

The immersive and striking exhibition Surrealism – Collective Dream offers a multifaceted exploration of the art movement. The exhibition delves into the subconscious and the instability of reality, showcasing works by avant-garde artists like Max Ernst, René Magritte, Yves Tanguy, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Man Ray, Penny Slinger, Herbert Bayer, Meret Oppenheim, and Claude Cahun, as well as contemporary artists such as  Cindy Sherman, Tony Oursler, Erwin Wurm, Yayoi Kusama, Erró, and Sarah Lucas.

Our artist Lauren Moffat participates with her augmented reality installation Local Binaries (2024).

Additionally, segments from surrealist films and series, including works by Luis Buñuel, Salvador Dalí, David Lynch, and Alfred Hitchcock, will be featured. Central themes include identity, gender, technology, and mental health, each viewed from diverse perspectives. The exhibition comprises paintings, photographs, sculptures, prints, and films, covering approximately 140 works by nearly seventy artists.

Opening: 8 February 2025.
