José Iges sound installation opens at the Cubelo of the Castillo de Mata next Thursday 23rd May

Next Thursday 23rd May opens art sometimes | mortals perhaps a sound installation devised by José Iges for the "Cubelo" (a small sized keep in a fortress) of the Museo Castillo de Mata. 

The installation is based on a phrase suggested by the philosopher and essayist George Steiner: if art sometimes manages not to be superficial, it is perhaps because we are mortals. From it, the author has elaborated more than 160 new phrases that are read by friends and colleagues from seven countries, who had sent the author their recordings during the pandemic via their mobile phones. 

The way of listening to the work in the keep also makes use of the mobile phone as a medium.It is through an app that those who visit this space will be able to listen to the audios on their phones while they walk around the monument.  

The installation can be visited during the regular opening hours of the Museo Castillo de Mata until the end of July.
