Freijo Gallery's Archive | Delving into Marisa Gonzalez's work.

June 27, 2024

Freijo Gallery is glad to present Marisa González's archive digitization project, on which we have been working for several months now.

Winner of the Velázquez 2023 Prize, González is considered a pioneer in the use of new technologies applied to the visual arts, having incorporated media such as the photocopier, fax, photography, video and the computer as tools with which to construct installations, audiovisual projects and photographic series, creating her own interdisciplinary language. Her work is also characterised by the fact that it deals with social issues and is mostly composed of series.

This digital archive brings together various audiovisual materials from her series Violencia Mujer (1975-1976), Foto-Video-Computer Lumena (1992-1995) and Clónicos (1993-1997), as well as photographs from her period abroad, where she studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC.
