“Mil (allegro) Veces (andante) Mil (allegro)", by Isidoro Valcárcel Medina at Museo Vostell Malpartida
July 1, 2023
Isidoro Valcárcel Medina's exhibition, "Mil (allegro) Veces (andante) Mil (allegro)", opened on 29th June at the Museo Vostell Malpartida, Cáceres.
In its role as an incomplete aphorism, the title of this piece intends to warn of a reasoning about what is regulated, a parody of elementary arithmetic. Counting up to a million by one's own eyesight is nothing but an unnecessary boast. As for the subtitle, it alludes to the accelerated pace at which this goal would be reached if it is the ear that is in charge of achieving it. Art, in short, would not be in success, but, as usual, in the route of reason, in the constancy of thought.
The exhibition has been curated by Pepe Olona, cultural manager and editor of Arrebato Libros, and is funded by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Dirección General del Libro, in collaboration with the Consejería de Cultura, Turismo y Deportes de la Junta de Extremadura and the Consorcio Museo Vostell Malpartida, as part of the project ‘Puente, Encuentros Ilustrados' project for Spain's Presidency of the European Union.
