Melífera | Performance by Lucía Madriz
March 9, 2019
Today, at Finca Elefante (Costa Rica), Melífera, a performance by Lucía Madriz
"From the Latin "mellifer", the one that produces honey; formed of "meli" (honey) and the suffix "fero" from the Latin "fer", which means "the one that contains or produces". Sunrise, the sun shines in the sky. Its light makes the flowers open and they listen attentively. The melody of a buzzing bee makes the flower prepare its sweetest nectar. From the sky to the flowers, from the flowers to the darkness of the hive, the cavern or the trunk, the bees fly laboriously, transporting pollen, fertilizing flowers and ensuring the continuity of life. In the hive they transform the nectar into honey, the substance that sweetens and flows, heals and renews; food of the gods, metaphor of divine love and erotic ecstasy, fertility and immortality."
